Placing a Book on Hold

When a student wants a book that is currently checked out by someone else, you can place a hold for them.
- Go to the Catalog and find the book.
- Click on the book title to see its details.
- Click Manage Holds.
- Search for the student who wants the hold.
- Click to place the hold.
What happens next:
- If a copy of the book is available right now, the hold is immediately set to "Ready" and the copy is set aside for the student. The student has a limited time to pick it up (usually 3 days).
- If no copies are available, the hold is set to "Pending." When someone returns a copy, the system automatically assigns it to the next person in line and sends them a notification.
- Teachers get higher priority in the hold queue than students.
Hold status meanings:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending | Waiting for a copy to become available |
| Ready | A copy is waiting for the student. They need to pick it up soon! |
| Expired | The student did not pick up the book in time (usually 3 days) |
| Fulfilled | The student picked up and checked out the book |
| Cancelled | The hold was cancelled by the student or librarian |
