Proposing a Library Event

Why Propose an Event?

If you have an idea for a workshop, book club, author talk, or any other library activity, you can send a proposal directly to the librarian. The librarian will review your idea and let you know if it is approved.

How to Submit a Proposal

  1. In the sidebar, click Events to expand the group, then click Propose an Event.
  2. Fill in the proposal form:
    • Title — a short, descriptive name for your event (required, maximum 200 characters).
    • Description — explain what the event is about, why it would be useful, and who it is for (maximum 2,000 characters).
    • Proposed Date — the date you would like the event to take place. This must be a future date.
    • Event Type — select the category that best fits your idea (Workshop, Story Time, Book Club, Author Visit, Exhibit, Reading Program, or Other).
    • Contact Information — provide your email address or phone number so the librarian can reach you if they have questions.
    • Attachment (optional) — you may upload a supporting file such as a programme outline, flyer draft, or reference document. Accepted formats: PDF, JPG, PNG. Maximum size: 5 MB.
  3. Click Submit Proposal.

What You'll See

After submitting, a confirmation message appears on the screen saying your proposal has been submitted successfully. The form clears so you know it went through.

What Happens Next

Your proposal goes to the librarian's review queue. When the librarian makes a decision, you will receive an in-app notification telling you whether your proposal was approved or rejected. If it was rejected, the notification will include any notes the librarian added.

You can check the current status of your proposal at any time by going to Propose an Event → My Proposals or visiting /patron/event-proposals.

If Something Goes Wrong

  • "Proposed date must be in the future" — Select a date that has not yet passed.
  • "File too large" — Your attachment is over 5 MB. Try compressing the file or removing it.
  • "Unsupported file type" — Only PDF, JPG, and PNG files are accepted.
