"A student says they returned a book but it still shows as borrowed"

What you might see: The student's loan list shows a book as active even though they say they already returned it.
Why this happens: The return was probably not processed in the system. Physically placing a book on the shelf does not update the system. A librarian must scan or process the return.
How to fix it:
- Go to Return Books.
- Search for the book or the student.
- If the book appears as still checked out, process the return now.
- If the book cannot be found (physically missing), process it as "Lost" and assess a replacement fee, or investigate further.
